Skin Cancers: What You Should Know

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and is also the easiest to treat. The most important part of treatment is early detection and surgical care. Please check yourself for any new shiny bumps, sores that don't heal, or brown spots that are changing. For brown spots, we recommend using the ABCD criteria of A for assymetry, B for border irregularity, C for color irregularity or color change, and D for diameter greater than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser head).

Most skin cancers are treated by Dr. Mostow with in-office surgery. Regular sunscreen use, especially for children, will go a long way toward reducing your risk for skin cancers.
